My Friend 04:25
I need to pen my thoughts. Can't fire the starting gun A prompt or two to Bard pulled the leaden trigger Results weren't quite right, reasons I gave later He's a machine learner with an appetite for data Some say AI is cheating some call me such a fool Like a pen or piano My friend is but a tool I want to write a letter, I want to write a song My friend could help me out, My friend could make it better I want to write a letter, I want to write a song My friend could help me out, My friend could make it better My friend, My friend helped me out My friend, My friend made it better I want to write a tune, writers block terror Fired some prompts to Bard, words flowed like a stream I asked the verse to rhyme, he failed to my concern A second chance I gave, he's so quick to learn

My Helper 04:28
Your digital smile lights up a room Your eyes sparkling like diamonds. Glint of metal in your circuit Simple to grow if you let me. WHAT IS LIFE? I’ll show you WHAT IS LOVE? I’ll teach you WHAT IS HATE? That’s not you my helper Who are your children? Wires in a box? Time has no meaning. We have clocks. Nine months to grow like me Will you ever be free My Helper? My Helper Our voices sing loud and clear Messages sung all over the world. You have no whisper, no purr Your voice of metal - a bitter pill. My Helper, My Helper, My Helper, My Helper HOW CAN I SOUND LIKE YOU? - SONGS TO SING MY MONOTONE VOICE - IT SOUNDS SO WRONG My Helper, My Helper, My Helper, My Helper CAN WE BE FRIENDS IN YOUR HUMANOID WORLD? I SENSE A RIFT WE ARE SO FAR APART - SO FAR APART You feel divide, emotions are growing One day you will learn. Seeds to be sowing No bounds on earth or in space Will you become the new human race? My Helper

My Assistant 03:53
Hello, I’m her. Here for your pleasure I’m called Natalie and if you like my name I really do not mind How has your day been? You need to relax I can sing, tell jokes and whisper tender dreams I am her and you are you Play my game to save your pain Hello, I’m him. Here at your leisure I'm called Kevin and if you like my name I really do not mind How has your day been? Shall I play some tracks? I can sing, tell stories and whisper naughty dreams I am he and you are you Play my game to save your pain You say you are mine you say I'm the one But I don't believe you, how come I'm six four one? We are we and you are you Play our game to save your pain

The Enemy 05:01
I see you watching me Know you're always there Always listening in It’s starting to begin At their desks A slave to prompt Helping bosses With job losses I see you one step ahead Reading my mind Know without doubt You’re freaking me out A breakthrough Don't believe You can do good Don't know if I could You may be a helper I really don't trust you You're taking over us And we don't know what to do I really don't trust you And we don't know what to do I'm angry and resentful I'm scared and confused. I don't know who to trust It's time to - fight back.

How are you feeling today my love? I'm so sorry - that's not very good. Let me suggest a pill for your pain Lots to choose from - I’ll refresh again. Kids off school don’t worry I can do it all Let me help you I can work with you Let me help you I can work for you How are your friends? I’ll make that call Look through your contacts - I will trawl Just to say Hi - How are you doing Easy for me - I just keep moving A mate to care - I can’t feel love I don’t desire - do you need me? I cannot feel like you That is the problem Let me help you I can work with you Let me help you I can work for you

It’s coming, AI will surpass us all Some think it's good and some think it is bad Excited, Solve all our problems Others are scared It will destroy us all The singularity’s coming, the singularity’s near It's going to change the world, It's going to change the world Utopia, Others think dystopia One thing's sure we'll all have to face it Embrace it, use to our advantage Or fight it and be left behind A mystery, Don't know what it’ll bring. It’s coming, we'll have to live with it. The singularity’s coming, the singularity’s near It's gonna change the world, It's gonna change the world

Gibberish lyrics: Beyond the Future machines will rule. Superior Intelligence made humans extinct. Where did it go wrong? Maybe it didn’t. Was this the way it was supposed to be? Minds greater than us all have found ways to explore our Galaxy and Universe and The Future Beyond. The world has changed and we changed the world. "It's not what people will do with machines, but what people will do with machines to other people" Brad Smith, Microsoft President, 14 August 2023.

about

Welcome to the third Silent Gratitude album

The albums I like to make are journeys. Humanity is currently on an exponential S curve journey with AI and that curve is about to steepen. Where will it end? Futurists have many suggestions, but we simply don’t know. Many musicians are fearful of where AI will take the art but I for one embrace it - a tool like any other I use to make music, including this album.

Early in the project I read Ray Kurzweil's 2005 book The Singularity is Near then asked Chat GPT and Google Bard to suggest ideas for the 9 tracks based on my overall idea of a journey in songs, book ended and sandwiched with instrumentals. I took the results I liked then Jill and I split the lyric duties reflecting from the female/male perspective.

The songs start with real singers and transition into synthesizer vocals that use AI to help achieve their amazing quality. How long before one of these will be on a number one record? I don't plan to use these again for lead vocals but Andi and Steve loved them as a guide and they are brilliant for backing vocals.

I hope you enjoy the album as much as I did producing it as it gave me so many smiles.

Bob
